praiseXperience

I grew up listening to Ron Kenoly and Don Moen. They were a staple in my home and their songs, the christian soundtrack of my childhood. Uncle Ron and Don could do no wrong as they belted out anthems of praise that I joined in, while jumping up and down on the couch. Apparently the floor just wouldn’t do, I needed the bounce for extra effect.

I haven’t listened to either of them in years. But this past two weeks have been different in a special type of way.

In my little corner of the world I have been in a permanent state of praise, and hey! its been a riveting experience attending a praise concert starring me, myself and I as both performer and crowd. I’ve got the rock star moves on lock, but the voice…not so much. Still, I praise. I cannot jump up and down on the couch (for obvious reasons) like I did as a little girl, but with that same abandon, I praise.

On one of dem days, while in my zone, I blurted out one of my favourite Ron tunes…LET EVERYTHING THAT HAS BREATH PRAISE THE LORD, AND LET THE LIVING PROCLAIM. LET EVERYTHING THAT HAS BREATH PRAISE THE LORD and it was a ripple effect because suddenly I heard myself shout…SING OUT THE LORD IS HERE, BUILD HIM A TEMPLE HERE, A PALACE OF PRAISE A THRONE OF THANKSGIVING MADE FOR THE KING OF KINGS. Then I heard myself sing, RIGHTEOUSNESS, PEACE AND JOY IN THE HOLY GHOST. RIGHTEOUSNESS, PEACE AND JOY IN THE HOLY GHOST THATS THE KINGDOM OF GOD! Then uncle Don joined in and I was like GOD IS GOOD ALL THE TIME, HE PUT A SONG OF PRAISE IN THIS HEART OF MINE. Then continued with I HAVE TWO HANDS, ONE HEART, ONE LIFE TO OFFER YOU, TWO HANDS, ONE HEART, THAT IS WHAT I GIVE TO YOU. I even had a guest appearance, the Maranatha Singers! and as though there was no tomorrow, with everything in me I sang, SING A SONG OF VICTORY SHOUT ALOUD UNTO THE LORD WHO IS LIKE THE LIVING GOD YAHWEH IS FOR US…

Oh! the JOY…pure JOY!

I had done the praying and I had done the fasting and I decided enough of the asking…just P R A I S E. Then a couple days after, a friend sends me a message and it said, instead of constantly praying for one thing or the other …let’s put a pause on that kind of prayer and just focus on God …He knows what we need even before we ask …this is pretty much us casting all our cares upon Him and watching God do His thing in our lives, show up for us and show off with us

Talk about confirmation! My cru (crew) on fiya (fire) init! 😉

I love that the instruction in the verse, let everything that has breath praise the Lord |psalm 150:6| turned big tune (courtesy of yup…uncle Ron) hinges on one thing only.                                                  L I F E.

It doesn’t matter what your current situation or circumstances are. Where there is B R E A T H there is H O P E. It is a shift in P E R S P E C T I V E from you to Him. From the storm to the calmness of His presence.

His G O O D N E S S  isn’t based on performance, what you do or don’t do.  He is God in spite of you and your human conditions.

Let me add that my circumstances have not changed. I have yet to receive the physical copy of the answers to my prayers, but I am expectant and believe that God will do as He has said He would.

So I W O R S H I P Him by T R U S T I N G Him, and He gives me R E S T.

What rock star moves have you got? We could have a praise and worship experience together y’all! All shades, tones and tempos of voices…from crusty to Diana Ross and everything in between. Shattering mirrors and all things glass in one accord! Talk about LIT! 😎

Hey! God inhabits the praises of His people…a remix of Psalm 22:3 🕺🏽💃🏽

Happy moNYay!

  1. Love this!! Funny enough just a few days ago I played some classic Don Moen songs and had to message my parents and thank them big time for introducing us to gospel at such an early age. Those songs, beats, everything have stuck with me over the years. The message in them is so true because it’s the word of God.

  2. Love this! Let everything that hath breath praise the Lord indeed. And the line about just focusing on God instead of praying for specifics all the time 👌🏾
