Revelling Revelation

But he said, “No, don’t worship me.
I am a servant of God, just like you and your brothers the prophets,
as well as all who obey what is written in this book.
Worship God only!

|Revelation 22:9|
I see it clearly.
It blinks at me like flashing caution lights
and catches my attention like the frantic waves of one drowning.
It shouts at me like the loud cries of a soul in pain,
like a defibrillator to a heart in crisis.

Worship God only!

I am shocked into a new reality,
while clinging to the life I know.
This must be the white light experience people talk about,
on the edge of life and death,
old and new,
past and present
and the unruly, yet comforting feelings of
now or never.

Worship God only!

Like the ringing silence after thunder strikes,
in the quiet reflective spaces in between the noise
my heart's pace steadies.

Calm and collected
Laser focused
Audacious clarity.

The world offers a lot,
but all perishables.

Christ offers life,
Eternal.

I choose Christ.
Yes, Christ alone.

Love,
Mel.

In a world overloaded with transient pleasures, it is easy to be swept by the waves of trends. And so I needed this reminder, worship God only. I wrote these words in hopes that it’ll inspire you to do the same, especially in a season fraught with consumerism (on steroids).

Let this season be about breathing in the warmth of intimate moments shared with loved ones, including extending a hand of hope to others, and let God be the lone thread woven into the fabric of those moments. That is worship. Acknowledging Him in all areas of your life, even in the smallest, most mundane aspects.

Happy monyay!!!!!!!
