I really can’t tell you how many times I have had to face the girl in the mirror and just go buck wild being the (hypest) hype man I can be for myself. ‘cuz sometimes, the boost has to come from within, and you also have to hear yourself say it to believe it. 

A premium add-on is God’s word. It should be the base really— the foundation for life. But I get that distractions, trials & tribulations, challenges and the issues of life can do a number on our sensibilities and we sometimes forget that God is (the same always), in spite of and in the midst of our circumstances.

But hey…on days I feel many shades of ugly, I tell myself— Mel, you are beautifully and wonderfully made. God created you, looked at you and said…GOOD. Nothing can be ‘gooder’ than God’s good. You girl are straight divine!

On days I feel like I am not enough aka not qualified, I tell myself— Mel, you are God’s handiwork, created to do good works which God has prepared for you in advance. No one can dim your light except you give ‘em permission. So rock on girl. Rock on!

On days I have not one ounce of strength to even lift a finger or open an eye lid, I tell myself— Mel, you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you! Captain Marvel, though waaaaay cool ain’t got nothing on you girl! Put on your God armour and lets GO!

On days I feel forgotten, I tell myself— Mel, kick that thought to the curb! You are God’s temple. He lives in you, knows all the hairs on your body. Knows you by name and has the length of your days in the palm of his hands. You are more than a thought to God sis. You are not even your own, you are His, created for his purposes; for his good pleasure.

On days people try to try me and I feel myself ready to go Mr. Miyagi on one and all, I tell myself— Mel, first of all, you can’t fight. But beyond that, you are patient and kind and very very slow to anger and you find it super easy to forgive. You are more than your feelings, so get a hold of yourself and shock them with a sincere smile. Confuse them with kindness, and let them marvel at the grace of God in you.

On days I feel my heart pounding from fear, I tell myself— Mel, perfect love casts out all fear. You have a sound mind. God is with you. Faith it out!

It’s amazing how God’s word has it all. Every single thing you could ever think of is right there in His word.

So yea, if no one encourages you, find the nearest mirror or turn on your camera to selfie mode, and encourage yourself in God’s word. Its all the backing you need— the pinnacle of pep talk!
