Sanctuary

I had to guard my heart this past week, and selfishly so.

“Why?” you (might) ask.

Well, for obvious reasons. Reinforcement.

A sis’ gotta protect her peace you know…

‘Cuz… there is this parasite of a thing called fear, which I guess you could conceptualize as the boogeyman, perhaps with leech-like, blood-sucking, energy zapping, joy thieving qualities. It truly is a monster of a thing. So ya, I popped, locked and dropped my way into the word with rhythmic alacrity, and I have yet to find a sweeter spot.

So here is what your girl has been doing.

Like she did as a child, she engaged in the fun activity of building a fortress, except this time, she traded pillows and cushions for life-giving words. She joined millions of Christians via LoveWorld, fasting and praying like her life depends on it, because it does. Hers, and that of many. She found an escape in the melodious world of worship/praise songs, singing at the top of her lungs joyfully, but not entirely in tune.

On all fours, face pressed deeply into the palm of her hands, she finds her strength. On her knees, hands lifted high enough to touch the heavens, she finds hope. On her feet, she roots herself firmly on the foundation of God’s promises, and deeply so. He is not about to forsake His own. Never has He, never will He.

and so, taking the sensationally climactic words of Fat Joe to heart, she leaned back, all the way back into God.

Need more reasons?

Let’s take a walk down history lane to the pages of the Bible, specifically John 8:12 (amp). Once again Jesus addressed the crowd. He said, “I am the Light of the world. He who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.” You know what? Let’s hop a little to the right, to the MSG version, I think its verbiage will hit home more; Jesus once again addressed them, “I am the world’s Light. NO ONE WHO FOLLOWS ME STUMBLES AROUND IN THE DARKNESS. I PROVIDE PLENTY OF LIGHT TO LIVE IN.

The crowd is us, and what are we most in need of right now? Life and Light. Where can the world find this? Jesus. Is there an alternative? NO. Jesus is the way, the truth and the LIFE |John 14:6|. He shares that with no one. He is the well that never runs dry. Never ever ever.

I love David’s words in Psalm 91:2, He is the hope that holds me, and the stronghold to shelter me, the only God for me, and my great confidence. The NIV version says, I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust. #PHEW.

Now that’s how you live in, yet not be of the world!

oh ya…what I’m currently listening to…

Happy monyaaaaaaaaaaaay

xoxo ‘n’ loads of hugs!

Mel.
