There isn’t anything particularly Einstein about what I have to say, but I do believe it is God-breathed, and thus more weighty than even the most intelligent and/or profound thing uttered by Sir Albert. I also believe in the healing, and positioning power of God’s truth.
Let me start by saying this…
The best space to be in on the cusp of a new season is reflective, and even more important, prayerful.
I have learned that even when life seems to be at a standstill, there is movement. Sometimes, we feel like the fish caught in the hook of a fishing reel, and other times we are the hand holding the fishing reel catching the kill of the day.
In and out of seasons, in the rat race for the next thing, we run the risk of forgetting. We forget until we are weary, and need reprieve. We forget until we are thirsty, and need a well. We forget until we are hurting, and need comfort. Oh, how easy we forget.
Here is the thing about God. He is mindful of us. He has prepared for us in ways that we are yet to know, but will surely find out. He is aware of this human flaw, forgetfulness, and as such provided a practical solution. Generation after generation, it has and will remain relevant, and useful. In chapter one, Habakkuk queried God about the state of affairs in the land, interceding for the people of God. God answered, and pretty much says, Okay I am about to tell you what I plan on doing. But it is a lot, and you should write it all down. Matter of fact don’t feel the need to be fancy with cursive lettering, and definitely don’t be stingy with space. Write legibly, in big and bold letters so that anyone can read it. For emphasis, the TLB version says, write it on a billboard, large and clear so that anyone can read it at a glance…|Hab. 2:2|Think Times Square in New York! By the way, anyone is you, but also those that your testimony will encourage.
As we prepare for the year 2021, find a mountain top. Separate yourself from the noise as best you can, seek your Father’s face concerning you, yours and the year that is to come. Incline your ears. Listen for His voice. Make it a point to write down what you hear, and be intentional about declaring them. Revelation is not given for decoration. In season, it could very well be your lifeline. God’s promise to you is this, but these things I plan i.e. the things I have said to you, won’t happen right away. Slowly, steadily, surely, the time approaches when the vision will be fulfilled. If it seems slow, do not despair, for these things will surely come to pass. Just be patient! They will not be overdue a single day! |Hab. 2:3|
One thing I know for sure is this. God is a man of his word, and His word revealed to you is powerful enough to part every contemporaneous red sea. I do not know what 2021 holds for us, but I do know who holds you and I. In the new year, remember the words He has spoken to you, write them on paper (or on your phone, tablet or whatever device), and on the pages of your heart. Let His words anchor your soul that you may have rest, even in the unknown.
Happy monyaaaaay!
