Vanity Fair

Since we so often rummage through life for a sense of purpose and belonging. Here is what I hope is an encouraging word for your searching soul; I have made you and I will carry you |Isaiah 46:4|.

If the search has left you in tatters, here is a reminder of who holds the ruins; The Lord will comfort Israel (you) again and have pity on her (your) ruins. Her (your) desert will blossom like Eden, her (your) barren wilderness like the garden of the Lord. Joy and gladness will be found there (in you). Songs of thanksgiving will fill the air (of your lungs and home) |Isaiah 51:3|.

If you are at the foothill of a mountain frozen by the fear of being a mere footnote, here is a bookmark worthy word for you; the least will become a thousand, the smallest a mighty nation; I am the Lord; I will accomplish it quickly in time |Isaiah 60:22|.

If you are feeling unworthy, and damned to a hollow existence, grab unto this lifeline; Yet it was your weakness he carried; it was your sorrows that weighed him down. And you thought his troubles were a punishment from God, a punishment for his own sins! But he was pierced for your rebellion, crushed for your sins! He was beaten so you could be whole. He was whipped so you could be healed. You, like sheep strayed away. You left God’s path to follow your own. Yet the Lord laid on him your sins |Isaiah 53:4-6|.

I understand the appeal of self-preservation, the desire to protect oneself from the rolling hills of hurt, pain and disappointments. If life has been cruel, and your heart hardened as a result. If you feel forgotten, here is what God is saying to you; Can a woman forget her nursing child, or lack compassion for the child of her womb? Even if these forget, yet I will not forget you. Look, I have inscribed you on the palms of my hands; your walls are continually before me |Isaiah 49:14-16|.

The Bible talks about God setting eternity in our hearts. I understand this to mean that the search leads nowhere outside of the One who holds eternity. In other words, there is a gaping longing for more than the vanities of this world, and until our attention is turned to Him, our search will only yield temporary gains. He is so deeply passionate about you. I mean why else would He exchange His royal garb for your shabby thorn threaded clothes? Ever had anyone willingly die for you? Anyone?

The world is in shambles because men so desperately want to be God. We should be desperate for Him, not to be Him. He has already said He will not give His glory to another |Isaiah 42:8|, but He is not shy about letting His glory shine in and through you.

I hope that today your search ends in the arms of the Father, right where you belong and in whom your purpose resides.

Happy Monyaaaaaay!
