Ever felt over it?
Like if one more thing popped up you would lose it?
Ever felt so overwhelmed your knees fail to hold you up?
You want to cry out, or reach for something or someone to break the fall, but…
Ever felt like you only had one bar of fight left in you?
Steeped in lethargic feelings that infiltrate your command center,
your emotions are no longer your own.
Swaddled in a thick fog you can’t shake off,
your mental, physical, and spiritual life suffer the consequences.
It’s an arduous fight for survival because you are overdrawn,
in overdraft,
blinking red,
and very much done.
The world has been a lot and can very easily be likened to the fiery furnace cranked up to high temperatures.
It’s been one thing after the other, and it seems unwilling to let up.
We learn a great deal about ourselves when under pressure.
I remember the many times I sat in the congregation and heard these words spoken from the pulpit.
Be filled with the word of God so that when squeezed by the pressures that come with living in a broken world, His word pours out of you; like soapy water would out of a dish rag.
I am glad I listened. It has been my saving grace.
But on days I draw blank, and words escape me, my convictions don’t.
On bended knees, or in a fetal position, I worship.
When my heart breaks for the state of the world and I am flooded with the desire to pray for everything and everyone, but I do not know where to start, I worship.
When praying turns into repetitive babble and I no longer feel connected, I worship.
When doubt tries to sink its dirty claws into me, I worship.
Worship is a sure-fire way to reboot.
It places me in His hands.
I worship to regulate my emotions.
I worship to be refreshed.
I worship to rev up my faith.
I worship to usher in the Holy Spirit.
I worship to be guided to the heart of the Father.
I worship to exalt Him, not the issues of the world.
Then, the words flow.
Strength is regained,
Wisdom is received,
And life pours out.
Let us encourage ourselves in the Lord and
lift each other up in prayers, including folks in positions of leadership.
Let us cry out to Jesus and grab unto the hand he extends for dear life.
Let us find comfort in his words.
Let his spirit guide us, so we are not driven over the edge.
Let us abide so that we can have peace even when the world is in chaos.
Let these scriptures center you…
The Lord himself will fight for you. Just remain calm. Exodus 14:14
When the cares of my heart are many, your consolations cheer my soul. Psalm 94:19
I sought the Lord and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears. Psalm 34:4
Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times, in every way.
The Lord be with you all. 2 Thessalonians 3:16
Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed for I am your God.
I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10
…and this beautiful song by Elevation Worship feat. Brandon Lake.
